How the Due Date Estimate Works
A common pregnancy dating method starts with the first day of the last menstrual period and estimates about 40 weeks of pregnancy. This calculator also adjusts the estimate when the selected menstrual cycle length differs from 28 days.
First Trimester
The first trimester covers the early stage of pregnancy. Prenatal care and accurate pregnancy dating are especially useful during this period.
Second & Third Trimesters
Pregnancy progress is usually followed in weeks. Your clinician may use ultrasound and other clinical information when confirming or revising dating.
Important Medical Note
What does average cycle length mean?
Cycle length is counted from the first day of one menstrual period to the first day of the next. A 28-day cycle is commonly used as the standard reference in due-date calculations.
Start Day

Next Period
Count until the first day of the next cycle.
Average
Use your usual cycle length if known.
